London: Blabar
If you’re a coffee lover, there is so much to choose from in London it can be overwhelming. I’ve been to the typical chains: Pret, Costa, Nero, Starbucks, etc. But its the small independents in local high streets that have my attention these days. My friend L in Putney, where I stayed, recommended Blabar and I’m so glad I went. Tucked away on a side street from Putney high street, its a cafe that has been successful in seamlessly blending into the surrounding retail portion of the store. Sitting and gazing at artwork, frames, pillows and knick knacks for sale, breakfast was peaceful on this somewhat gloomy day. Sipping on strong cold brew and enjoying spoonfuls of skyr (scandinavian thick yogurt) mixed with blueberries, coconut, cinnamon and granola. It was almost like time stopped for a moment, which on a 3 day trip, felt like heaven.
