Aloette
I can’t believe its been over 18 months since I’ve written a blog post, time completely got away from me and you all know how that feels like. So my most recent meal this past weekend was so good I wanted to blog about it. My girlfriends from my wine class (yes, I took a wine course last term – best class EVER!) and I decided to brave the wait (they don’t take reservations) to this galley shaped restaurant that seats no more than 40 people. We waited an hour for a table but it was well worth it. We ordered seven dishes altogether and shared everything – and boy, were we stuffed by the end of the night. My favourite two dishes, I couldn’t land on just one, was the chicken katsu and the new roasted pineapple sundae which they debuted that night. Typical of what you would expect from a chicken katsu, tender meat with a crispy light coating, the pickled daikon gave it a punch of acidity that cut through the fat and the aoili (which looked like Big Mac special sauce to me) just topped this dish for me. And then we ended the night with the roasted pineapple sundae which was to die for! Densely soaked rum cake at the base with layers of vanilla ice cream, banana flavoured whipped cream, butterscotch and crunchy toffee flakes – delicious! If this meal was any indication on how good Alo, Aloette‘s big sister restaurant, is….I can’t wait.
