Vancouver: Bauhaus Restaurant

Vancouver: Bauhaus Restaurant

During my weeks on the west coast I was able to explore and really get to know the city of Vancouver.  Being the beautiful city it is, mountains to the north and the ocean to the west, it also has its fair share of fantastic food.  I came to the city on a mission to eat as much asian food as I could but who knew that I’d also find a great contemporary German restaurant (well, I can’t take the credit, my colleague actually found it) but nevertheless, what a find.  Bauhaus Restaurant is located in trendy Gastown in what looked like a renovated warehouse.  The chef is a Michelin star chef born in Germany – the dishes are modern and beautifully presented.  Seeing it was my first time at Bauhaus I stuck to ordering off the german classics menu getting the wiener schnitzel served with fingerling potatoes and delicious white asparagus (they were in season).  Now I’ve never been to Germany but this schnitzel was just as delicious as those that I’ve had in Austria, crispy coating and the meat tender, and just as big (photo is actual size….lol).  I must also note that the service was outstanding, we had a great server who knew the food and gave great recommendations.  I definitely didn’t leave hungry and would recommend Bauhaus to anyone.
