New York City: Stanton Social
What better way to celebrate my last post for 2012 with a post of our last dinner in New York City! If I were to compare each of the restaurants we went to on our trip, I think its appropriate to say that we saved the best for last! I first heard of Stanton Social while watching an episode of Chopped where Chris Santos, owner of Stanton Social, was a judge. Soon after that, his french onion soup dumplings were featured on another show and ever since then, it went on my list of places I wanted to hit. The restaurant is located on the lower east side and as soon as you walk in, you can feel the buzz in the air – music pumping and chatter everywhere! Just as the name suggests, you need to come in a group as the menu is based on small plates and meant to be shared. My favourite was the crab cake corn dogs – absolutely delicious! It was flakey with large lumps of crab and perfectly seasoned! Closely second, came the french onion soup dumplings – signature dish at Stanton Social. It really is french onion soup all wrapped up in a dumpling topped with cheese and a crouton! They are like little bursts of onion goodness when you pop them in your mouth! A perfect end to a fantastic trip! Here’s to 2012!
