The Artist Project

Posted on

As I mentioned in my last post, the Artist Project landed this weekend over 4 days with opening night this past Thursday.  My friend G and I started attending the Artist Project last year – it was a great way to see some contemporary art, mingle with the artists and of course sip some cocktails.  This year, I was particularly drawn to a very young artist by the name of Ryan Louis. His photographs were whimsical – art that I can see in my dream kitchen!  My favourite – his piece called Cereal Bowl.  Here are some pics from the event:

Art for the Kitchen

As a food hobbyist, naturally my favourite room in the home is the kitchen!  And although I normally leave opinions on home decor to my friend and fellow blogger Designwali, I was a bit inspired since this Thursday I will be heading to The Artist Project in Toronto – a show featuring over 200 independent contemporary artists under one roof.  Here’s a print that I would love to have in my kitchen – I realize meringue is spelt wrong but still love the concept nonetheless :)

BlogPodium @ IDS 2012

I had a fabulous start to this past weekend and decided to take a vacation day from my day job and attend BlogPodium’s “Blogs + Media” event at the IDS (Interior Design Show) 2012.  My friend Designwali encouraged me to sign up since I was new to this medium of communication, have an interest in design and thought that I could learn some pointers.  And did I ever!  The panel of experts – heavy weights in the design world: Margot Austin, Kimberley Seldon, Kate Moore, Leigh-Ann Allaire Perrault and Jennifer Flores – were all open, honest and real.  I took away some great tips that I will incorporate in this blog.  Check out some photos from the day at

Here are some of my highlights I was able to capture with my small digital cam:

Magis Julian chair re-imagined by Debbie Travis - part of Cherish Auction & Exhibit

Orange was everywhere! Love this fun kitchen design!

Love these outdoor ottomans - great storage and funky texture (Alfred Sung for the Bay).

Outdoor spaces dominated the show - love the burst of colour

Fabulous light fixture - love the ice cube look
