Restaurant of the Month: The County General

It was a mom theme this past weekend and rightly so as Sunday was Mother’s Day.  I kicked off the weekend with brunch at the County General with one of my favourite moms, my friend M.  I’ve heard a lot of great things about this restaurant, especially their brunch menu – and of course, they don’t take reservations.  We did a bit of a late lunch and decided to meet at 1pm and only had to wait for about 15-20 mins.  Located in a trendy up and coming neighborhood – corner of Shaw & Queen Streets in West Toronto.  Taking a look at the menu its evident that the inspiration is comfort food.  The buttermilk fried chicken thigh sandwich caught my eye and I just had to try it.  On the side – fries and homemade spicy ketchup and a huge glass of brewed iced tea (unsweetened, so you know its brewed)!  I must admit, this is probably the best fried chicken I’ve had in Toronto, crispy and the meat so moist!  Definitely worth checking out!
