New York City: Momofuku Milk Bar

Before our flight back home, we had just enough time to grab a bite to eat.  The last place I had on my list was David Chang’s Momofuku Milk Bar.  I’m a big fan of David Chang, I love his food magazine Lucky Peach, and I know what you’re thinking – why didn’t we hit Ma Peche or Momofuku?  Well, with David Chang now in Toronto – he opened up the noodle bar, daisho, nikai and shoto, I figure why not hit his bakery instead since its only locations are in NYC.  It was a bit of a trek to the upper west side location (19 blocks) and although I was expecting a “cupcake-like” shop where his baked goods would be on display (it was much more rustic than I expected and geared towards a delivery business), my Thanksgiving Croissant was delicious!  It was a turkey dinner all stuffed into a buttery herb (I think it was sage baked right into the dough) croissant.  There was turkey, savoury stuffing and sweet cranberry sauce – it was insanely tasty!  And I couldn’t help myself but buy a trio of his birthday cake truffles – I couldn’t take home their cake so why not take it home in a truffle…..can I just say, it really was like eating birthday cake!  Can’t wait for my next trip to New York City!
