Maman
So this hasn’t been my first time to Maman however, it is for brunch and if you love French country cuisine, this is the place. With two large wooden family tables, the seating is communal style which is perfect for daytime eating. I ordered the croque ‘maman’ which one can describe as a French “grilled cheese”. It completely reminds me of when I was in Paris in this bistro I return to on every visit located just on the other side of the Seine facing Notre Dame, and I inevitably always order the croque madame every time. This one was deliciously prepared with parisian ham and bechamel sandwiched between two slices of country bread topped with melted comte cheese and a fried egg. Then came the rich and smooth chocolate tart that was the perfect ending to brunch. It was made with dark chocolate, not too sweet and a great buttery pastry crust – I savoured every bite. And if the croque maman and chocolate tart weren’t enough I just had to take a slice of the blueberry lavender white chocolate pound cake to go! Let me tell you, it didn’t last too long 🙂 Too bad this place isn’t closer to my office, I’d be there everyday.
