London: Sketch
So it was a happy coincidence that my birthday just happened to be while I was in London! Sketch was my restaurant of choice and although I’ve been to Sketch before (back in 2007), but with a completely renovated Gallery Room I wanted to go back. Completely coated in a pale pink with “rose gold” accents and beautiful art by David Shrigley. But let’s turn to the food, all the dishes we had were good but there are a couple that just blew me a way – the first was their take on fish and chips. A deconstruction of sorts it was fresh pollock coated in panko and served on the side, the main was the two sizeable sticks of fried potato (churro look alikes) on a bed of coleslaw and smears of mushy peas and homemade sketchup. The second was their cinnamon french toast dessert. Not really unique but the flavours were strong with a mix of textures, crunchy french toast, cool and creamy ice cream and sauteed apples was the perfect ending to the meal. It was definitely a memorable night!
